HR is all messed up
Does the HR profession have their act together? I realize there are some very smart people out there in this profession, but when a business leader wants to improve company performance, the typical HR response is related to reviewing the organizational structure or compensation and benefit plan, diagnosing the efficiency of the HR information system, creating elaborate metrics and dashboards, evaluating the number of employees needed, or some other human resource program without a human touch.
With twenty-plus years in this profession, I have found the health of an organization is heavily dependent on the work environment. The company culture will largely determine the success or failure of an organization. If you work in a toxic environment, customer relations, employee relations and products and services will be tainted with toxins.
If a company has a toxic environment, talent will leave and miserable people will stay. Would you want to invest in this company?
It is time to focus on company culture.
