10 positive changes we need in Corporate America
October 19th, 2011
The following are ten changes I would like to see occur in Corporate America that would make us more profitable and a much better place to work:
- Hospitality and treating employees like family members would be practiced by all leaders.
- Incentive designs that would eliminate political maneuvering, silos and animosity between departments and/or divisions of the same company.
- Company culture and creating a positive work environment would be treated as a strategic business necessity.
- Work/life integration would be taken seriously and practiced by all departments and leaders.
- No-layoff policies enacted by all companies.
- Certifiable jerks and bossholes would not be eligible for hire, and especially not promoted to leadership.
- Titles and status would not be emphasized. Servant leadership would be practiced.
- Common decency would be returned to the area of executive compensation.
- Executive criminals who have embezzled millions of dollars would not be treated lavishly by authorities and like celebrities by the media.
- Greed and self-dealing short-term decision-making would not be considered an admirable quality.
