10 Ways to Create a Toxic Workplace

10 Ways to Create a Toxic Workplace

In the event you want to create a toxic workplace, here are ten ways to achieve this dubious honor:

#1 Hire a CEO who views people merely as assets.

#2 Train your supervisors to be inflexible.

#3 Do not communicate important company information to your employees.

#4 Claim the importance of work/life balance but don’t practice it in real life.

#5 Utilize the HR department as a paper processing and legal compliance function only.

#6 Do not hire any HR professionals who understand the strategic and financial benefits of creating a great place to work.

#7 Keep the HR director far, far away from the CEO.

#8 Have the HR department report to the CFO or general counsel.

#9 Make commitments to employees and don’t keep them.

#10 Don’t tell the truth or put a spin on bad news.
