7 Reasons Why Mondays Suck!

Most people agree that Monday’s suck.

It’s more than a dislike for the first day of the work week; Monday brings on feelings of dread and anxiety. For many people the disdain for Monday starts with the blues on Sunday evening when employees realize the weekend is almost over.

Considering we live in a free country where we can make our own decisions and live the life we choose, it is very sad most Americans hate Mondays.

“If you love your job and are passionate about what you’re doing, going in to work Monday morning is another opportunity to do what you love. But if you’re feeling under-appreciated or unsatisfied with your job, it can be especially difficult to start another seemingly endless workweek.”

-Rita Friedman, Career Coach

Monday’s suck because most workplaces suck.

If employees are dragging in on Monday, there’s likely one or more of these issues going on inside your company.

7 Reasons Why Monday’s Suck

  1. The company’s culture is toxic
  2. A bad boss is spreading misery among their people
  3. Lack of appreciation for a job well done
  4. Non-existent communication, leaving employees in the dark
  5. Emphasis of face time with the boss
  6. Getting results takes a back seat to the monitoring of tardiness, time in cubicle or use of vacation time
  7. Bad behavior and poor performance is rewarded

According to Jacqueline Smith, Forbes, international author and speaker Alexander Kjerulf states there are real issues at work when people suffer from the Monday Blues. “We know from countless studies in psychology and neurology that your current emotional state has a huge effect on the quality of your work, says Kjerulf. He states the following are the negative results of the feelings of suckiness on Monday.
