What happened to being nice? Being nice is not a sign of weaknees.
When someone is cordial, polite and well-mannered, it does not mean the person lacks cerebral power, a proper education or real life skills. People who are polite typically play fair but are not pushovers. Some folks think nice people don’t produce results. This type of thinking is ridiculous.
Who wants to deal with rude people? Not your employees, leaders, customers or your board of directors. It takes self-control to be nice, even when others are not.
Civility in the workplace is a good thing. Civility anywhere is a good thing. What happened to nice? Have we watched too many reality TV shows where people resort to profanity-filled, back-stabbing laced, poisonous political maneuvering and toxic behavior to win? The workplace is not reality TV. The workplace is real life without cameras.
Do the right thing. Be nice.
