Comparison is a bad habit.
We can get caught up in comparing our stuff to other people’s stuff. What kind of stuff do we use for comparison? Here is a list that came to my mind:
- Money
- Houses
- Cars
- Clothing
- Careers
- Vacations
Comparison can be a destructive disease that grows inside a company as well.
A CEO who wants to build a great company culture by merely copying the practices of another successful company will likely not experience the same results. Great company cultures are developed by identifying and communicating an organization’s own good qualities. Just like every person has a different personality, every company will have a different personality.
If you are on the road to building a great workplace, don’t simply copy what the Fortune 100 Great Places to Work companies are doing.
Be original. Research what the best companies are doing that is successful and determine how those same principles may apply to your own organization. Don’t simply copy the best. Uniquely create your one-of-a-kind great place to work. You will find this approach works.
